The Clark County School District will begin the school year short at least 363 teachers.
District officials blame the shortfall on continued rapid growth in the Las Vegas area.
The district has 11 new schools opening this year.
Officials say about one-third of the vacancies are for classroom positions in elementary through high school.
Those positions will be filled with substitutes.
Clark County is the nation's fifth-largest school district.
Classes begin Monday.
