CALIENTE, Nev. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management says a fire
burning in the Clover Mountains Wilderness about 100 miles northeast of Las Vegas has grown from 15 acres to 200 acres.
The federal agency says the Sawmill Fire was ignited by lightning on Saturday and grew significantly on Monday afternoon.
The agency says the Sams Fire, which was also ignited by lightning Saturday, is about 750 acres. It is burning outside the
wilderness area, about 25 miles southeast of Caliente.
BLM is managing both fires for public safety and to maintain or
improve native wildlife habitat.
The Upper Springs Fire, burning about 20 miles east of Pony
Springs, remains about 120 acres in size and is 40 percent
