LAS VEGAS (AP) - The family of a teen killed in a January 2005 avalanche has settled a wrongful death lawsuit against the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort and others.
Details of the June settlement involving the family of 13-year-old Allen Brett Hutchison weren't made public.
But both sides told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that an agreement was struck to avoid a civil trial set for April 2010 in Clark County District Court.
The family had accused the resort of ignoring danger signs before Hutchison was swept off a ski lift and buried by a wave of snow.
The teen asphyxiated before rescue crews found his body.
A federal investigation found multiple safety violations at the resort on Mount Charleston about 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
