LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 31-year-old man convicted of killing another man involved in a bad check scheme will spend to 40 years to life in prison. Sentencing yesterday came after a jury found Thomas "Biggie" Morales guilty in March of first-degree murder with a weapon in the 2006 stabbing of 27-year-old Jesse Cothron. The jury acquitted Morales' brother, 33-year-old Tony Morales, in the slaying.
