Man Arrested for Murder of Man in Burning House

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say they've arrested a man on felony charges including murder, kidnapping, and arson in the death of a 42-year-old man whose body was found in a burning house in Las Vegas last September.

Las Vegas police identified the suspect as 28-year-old John Wesley Scott, but Clark County jail records list his name as 38-year-old Michael E. McGee.

Records show he was arrested Friday and also faces armed robbery, conspiracy, burglary and stolen vehicle charges. He was due for a felony arraignment Wednesday in Las Vegas Justice Court.

Police and firefighters reported finding Eddie Heckard dead Sept. 18 in a house on J Street after neighbors reported a possible robbery in progress and authorities arrived to find the house on fire.
