LAS VEGAS (AP) - Officials say a pilot trying to land a single-engine plane hit a sudden wind gust that sent the plane's propellor and right wing into the pavement at the North Las Vegas airport.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the pilot of the plane was taken to a hospital for evaluation after the Tuesday afternoon incident .
The plane's owner, Louis John Battaglia Jr. of Las Vegas, told The Associated Press he was coming from northern Nevada and was alone on the plane. Battaglia says he was not hurt.
