Motorcycle Rider Dead in Henderson

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Police in Henderson say a 24-year-old otorcycle rider is dead after crashing into a palm tree in the Tuscany Golf Club neighborhood.

Henderson police say the rider lost control of his 2002 Kawasaki ZX-12 motorcycle while traveling at a high rate speed about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Olivia Parkway near Via Palermo.

The rider's name wasn't immediately made public.

Police say he was wearing a helmet, but was thrown from the motorcycle when it slammed into the tree. He was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

Police call speed a factor in the crash, and say a coroner's toxicology test will determine if drugs or alcohol were involved.
