NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - North Las Vegas police are asking for public help to find a mother and her nearly 2-month-old baby girl, who they say has an infectious disease and needs immediate medical treatment.
Police say 30-year-old Janette Nelson of North Las Vegas gave birth to the child at North Vista Hospital after checking in Feb. 9 under a false name, Rochelle Brown.
Police Officer Chrissie Coon says authorities now think Nelson is hiding from police and child protective services officials who've been trying to reach her.
Coon says she can't disclose the child's condition. But she says it's no threat to people around her.
Coon says tips can go to Crimestoppers or North Las Vegas police Detective Dave Molnar.
