LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas physician was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison and his wife got 30 months for treating patients with a Botox knockoff at their Nevada clinic.
U.S. Attorney Gregory Brower said Monday that 54-year-old Dr. Stephen Lee Seldon and 41-year-old Deborah Martinez Seldon also were fined $144,000 for their convictions in November on criminal mail fraud and adulterating a drug while held for sale charges.
Defense lawyers filed a notice of appeal following Friday's sentencing by U.S. District Court Judge Kent Dawson.
Prosecutors say patients getting wrinkle treatments at A New You cosmetic clinic were injected with a cheap substitute, TRItox, instead of Botox.
The government says the substitute was research quality, not for human use.
