LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a man has been attacked by a swarm of angry bees after accidentally disturbing a nest while doing yard work.
Clark County Fire Department spokesman Scott Allison says the 53-year-old man was found shaking and blanketed in the bees Saturday afternoon.
Allison says firefighters responding used a hose to remove the bees. He says the firefighters were shocked by the scene.
Authorities estimate the man was stung hundreds of times on his face, arms and torso. The man is hospitalized and is expected to survive.
It was not immediately clear if the bees were Africanized honey bees, also known as "killer bees." The more aggressive type of bee is common in the Las Vegas area.
