NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - A Clark County coroner's jury has ruled that a North Las Vegas police officer was justified when he shot and killed a teenager during a scuffle in January.
Officer Michael Eggers testified Friday that he was grappling on the ground with 18-year-old Tyrise Bell when he felt a gun on Bell's waist. Eggers says Bell pushed the gun toward him and threaten to kill him just before Eggers fired five times.
Eggers had stopped Bell and another man for jaywalking.
The jury deliberated for about an hour before ruling the use of force was justified.
