LAS VEGAS (AP) - The M Resort is certainly opening during tough
times for casinos, but chairman and CEO Anthony Marnell III says
his employees are working to win customers over with timeless
tenets - service and value.
Marnell said Sunday before opening the $1 billion resort south
of the Las Vegas resort corridor that he's expecting a rough start
in filling the hotel's 390 rooms after March.
But Marnell says he's confident that the M Resort can carve out
its own niche combining Las Vegas locals with drive-in traffic
mostly from California.
He says the hotel is also advertising near the airport in hopes
of showing how the property stands out.
Tourism officials say Las Vegas added 7,500 rooms in 2008, but
visitor volume dropped 4.4 percent.
