LAS VEGAS (AP) - A prosecutor is using Chester Arthur Stiles' own words against him as the trial began for the man accused of videotaping his sexual attack on a 2-year-old girl in 2003.
In letters to former girlfriends that a prosecutor read for a Las Vegas jury Monday, Stiles cast himself as "a monster" unable to control sexual urges he said stemmed from his own abuse as a child.
Stiles' defense attorney says prosecutors won't be able to prove the 22 felony charges against Stiles, who also is accused of molesting a 6-year-old.
That girl, now 11, says "He touched me inappropriately." She pointed at Stiles from the witness stand and referred to him by several names, including "Cheddars" and "Chowder."
The 38-year-old Stiles faces multiple life terms if convicted of sexual assault with a minor under 14.
