Vegas Police Use Top-50 List to Catch Prostitutes

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say they have compiled a top-50 list of Sin City's most notorious prostitutes, and are using it as a list to aggressively crack down on repeat offenders.

Lt. Karen Hughes says the list took authorities two years to compile with the names of women who have the lengthiest prostitution-related criminal records in the county.

Authorities say 13 women on the list were arrested during Super Bowl weekend, within days of police beginning their new crackdown.

Police say 24 of the 50 women were arrested between Jan. 28 and
Feb. 13, all on misdemeanor charges.

Hughes says the goal of the list is to stop a revolving door of prostitution arrests.

But critics say the move may be overly aggressive at a time when some lawmakers are considering legalizing prostitution.
