Firefighter Injured in Pit Bull Attack

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a firefighter was treated for
dog bites after he and others intervened when a woman and her pet
dog were attacked by a stray dog in front of a northwest Las Vegas
fire station.

A Las Vegas fire spokesman says the firefighter was treated at a
hospital and released while city animal control officers took the
woman and her dog to a veterinarian after the 10:30 a.m. Friday
attack.

The spokesman says three firefighters and a male bicyclist came
to the aid of the woman and her springer spaniel during the attack
by the dog described as a pit bull.

When they broke the two dogs free, all five people ran with the
woman's dog into the fire station.

A fire captain sprayed the pit bull with a fire extinguisher to
keep him away.
