Pahrump Dad Charged With Kidnapping Goes To Court

PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) - A Pahrump man accused of kidnapping, domestic battery and violation of protection order charges has turned himself in to Nye County authorities.

Pahrump Justice Court administrator Kathy Ivey says Stephen Alarid walked into the court for a hearing on an unrelated case.

Alarid was wanted for the Nov. 18 abduction of his 6-month-old son from his estranged wife. Authorities say Alarid returned the boy to his mother's doorstep unharmed.

Justice of the Peace Tina Brisebill determined he was not a flight risk, agreeing with the prosecutor and defense lawyer in the case.

The abduction triggered an Amber Alert for 11 western states.
