LAS VEGAS (AP) - Democrats are outpacing Republicans in
fundraising ahead of the gubernatorial election in 2010.
Campaign finance records filed last week show Assembly Speaker
Barbara Buckley raised nearly $600,000 in 2008. Buckley, a Democrat
from Las Vegas, is considering running for the office.
Her likely primary opponent is Clark County Commissioner Rory
Reid. Reid reported raising $670,000 for his bid.
Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons reported just $260,000 in his
campaign fund. North Las Vegas Mayor Michael Montandon has said he
plans to challenge Gibbons for the Republican nomination. Montandon
took in just $20,000.
