LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a man who kept a baby with him while
he kept police at bay for 11 hours is facing multiple charges including battery domestic violence and child endangerment.
Jail records show that 26-year-old Jose Angel Ponce was freed Friday from the Clark County jail pending court appearances on four charges - also including possession of a stolen vehicle and drug possession.
Officer Bill Cassell, a Las Vegas police spokesman, says Ponce was sought on a warrant charge of battery domestic violence but refused to leave the a northeast Las Vegas home when police arrived Christmas night.
Cassell says a 1-year-old child who was with Ponce during the standoff was released unharmed when Ponce surrendered to SWAT
officers shortly before 7 a.m. Friday.
