LAS VEGAS (AP) - Snow is falling in the mountains and foothills around Las Vegas, and forecasters are predicting up to 3 inches will accumulate overnight amid the palm trees, marquees and faux volcano along Nevada's casino resort corridor.
Meteorologist Andrew Gorelow says up to 10 inches could fall in the suburbs in the western foothills of the Spring Mountains.
Gorelow says a powerful wet Pacific storm with an Arctic chill were rolling through the area, bringing snow to the National Weather Service monitoring station at McCarran International Airport.
He says 3 inches would break the December record of 2 inches set in 1967, but wouldn't match the Las Vegas winter record of 9 inches set 1974.
