LAS VEGAS (AP) - Clark County officials have dedicated a new parking lot that they say should improve safety for people snapping
photos at the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign on the
Las Vegas Strip.
The lot has 12 parking spots, including two handicapped spaces and room for two buses.
The sign was first erected in 1959, and Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid says the location - in the Las Vegas Boulevard
median just south of Russell Road - made it dangerous for jaywalking pedestrians and motorists stopping in traffic to see it.
Reid says the new parking area makes the area handicapped-accessible and safer to visit.
