LAS VEGAS (AP) - A clothing company says one of its founders is
quitting and offering an apology to Ultimate Fighting Championship star Randy Couture's wife for comments she cited in obtaining a court protection order against him.
A statement from Affliction Inc.'s board of directors says 43-year-old Todd Eugene Beard resigned Friday from the Seal Beach, Calif., business. The company says Beard will seek treatment for anger management and alcohol abuse.
Kim Couture alleges Beard threatened her when she tried to get an accounting of a T-shirt contract she manages featuring Randy Couture's name and likeness.
Kim Couture's lawyer, Don Campbell, calls the apology "meaningless." He says it has no effect on a restraining order she obtained Wednesday banning Beard from approaching her or attending a UFC heavyweight bout featuring Randy Couture this weekend in Las Vegas.
