LAS VEGAS (AP) - Riding the bus in and around Las Vegas is about
to get more expensive.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada approved higher fares Thursday, boosting the cost of riding the Deuce double-decker on the Las Vegas Strip from $2 to $3 beginning Jan. 11.
General service Citizen Area Transit bus rides will increase from $1.25 to $1.75 in January, and hit $2 in 2010.
One-way paratransit bus service will go from $1.50 to $2.50 in January, and to $2.75 in 2010.
The cost of day and monthly passes also will increase.
Transit agency general manager Jacob Snow says that without the
fare hike, the RTC would have to cut service 18 percent.
