LAS VEGAS (AP) - The ex-wife of convicted Oklahoma City bombing
coconspirator Terry Nichols says she backs her 26-year-old son as
he faces vehicle theft and stolen property charges in Las Vegas.
Lana Padilla watched Joshua Isaac Nichols in court Friday, and said later that she loves him no matter what. She also says her son has a drug problem and needs help.
Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Abbi Silver appointed a public
defender to represent Nichols, and set a Dec. 1 preliminary hearing
on charges stemming from his Tuesday arrest on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle.
The judge refused to reduce Nichols' $3,200 bail. He remains at the Clark County jail.
Joshua Nichols has a felony record and served prison time for assault with a deadly weapon and other charges stemming from a 2005 scuffle with Las Vegas police.
