LAS VEGAS (AP) - U.S. marshals say 22 people have been arrested
this week in a Halloween push to apprehend fugitive sex offenders
in and around Las Vegas.
A chief deputy marshal in Las Vegas, Javier Jimenez, says 16 of those arrested Monday through Thursday were sex offenders.
Twelve agencies and Nevada Child Seekers are taking part in the sweep. It's dubbed Operation Trick-or-Treat II.
Officials say the goal of the sweep was to find and arrest sex offenders who aren't complying with regulations and to keep offenders away from children out trick-or-treating and taking part in other Halloween festivities.
