LAS VEGAS (AP) - More than 30,000 runners are expected to take part this weekend amid the blare of music and the glare of neon in the fifth annual Las Vegas Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and related races.
Race spokesman Dan Cruz says runners are picking up race numbers Friday and Saturday at a fitness expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The expo features 100 exhibitors.
The marathon and a 13.1-mile half-marathon start at 4:30 p.m. Sunday on the Las Vegas Strip.
A new course configuration will send marathoners twice beneath the downtown Fremont Street Experience casino mall canopy.
Organizers with the Competitor Group say security has been stepped-up since the Boston Marathon bombing in March.
Along with course changes, the Las Vegas date was moved this year from December to November.
