LAS VEGAS (AP) - KLAS-TV in Las Vegas has laid off 17 staffers
and transferred four others, citing a downturn in the economy.
KLAS General Manager Emily Neilson says in a memo to staff that
the moves are necessary and "a significant recovery is not
expected for at least a few years."
Neilson says in the memo that the layoffs are "a gut-wrenching
experience for all of us."
The station is owned by Landmark Media Enterprises, and has been
up for sale for months.
Among those leaving are daytime anchor Charlotte Evans, weekend
anchor Colleen May, reporter Ky Plaskon and executive producer
