Nevada Man Shot By Lake Havasu Officer Recovering

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - A Nevada man who was shot by a
Lake Havasu City police officer during a confrontation at a local motel is recovering at a Las Vegas hospital, authorities said.

Troy R. Young, 38, of Pahrump, Nev., suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was in stable condition at Sunrise Hospital on Monday,
said Kingman police Sgt. Rusty Cooper.

Kingman police are investigating the criminal aspects of the officer-involved shooting and Lake Havasu City is conducting an internal review.

Lake Havasu City officers were called to the Motel 6 on a domestic disturbance call involving an armed suspect on Sunday morning, Cooper said.

As officers entered the second-floor hallway and stairwell, they
reported hearing yelling and shots fired. Young then came out of the hotel room and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the officers, according to Cooper and a news release from Lake Havasu City police.

Officer Jason Perkinson then shot Young at least four times, police said. Young retreated back into the room prior to surrendering.

Young and his girlfriend were vacationing in Lake Havasu City.

Kingman police have obtained an arrest warrant for felony assault against Young and if charges are filed, prosecutors in Mohave County will seek his return to Arizona.
