LAS VEGAS (AP) - Three ironworkers were fired at the big CityCenter hotel-casino resort project on the Las Vegas Strip after a newspaper reported finding workers drinking alcohol at nearby bars before going to the job site.
General contractor Perini Building Co. said Thursday it was trying to identify other workers seen drinking alcohol before work at the $9.1 billion MGM Mirage construction site.
Doug Mure, a company vice president, said the matter was getting the highest priority and Perini intends to fire anyone it can identify in the report.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Thursday that over a six-week period a reporter and photographer observed 10 people who
appeared to be construction workers walking to the job site after drinking several cocktails. Six were photographed or videotaped.
The names of the fired workers were not released.
