LAS VEGAS (AP) - One person is dead, a second person is wounded and police are looking for at least one assailant after a fight and a shooting overnight in a neighborhood several blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Police Officer Laura Meltzer says police responding about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday to a report of gunfire found the wounded person in an alley near a convenience store off Sahara Avenue east of Paradise Road.

Officers found the other person in an apartment in a nearby complex off Lynwood Street. He was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center.

Meltzer says the victim found in the alley has injuries that aren't believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators think several people were involved in the fighting, but a shooter hasn't immediately been identified.
