Former Employee Accused Of Skimming From Las Vegas Hospital

A former University Medical Center employee is facing felony charges alleging she skimmed tens of thousands of dollars she was handling for the county-run hospital.

Officials say Keisha Jones was arrested in May after hospital administrators became suspicious and Las Vegas police were called
in to investigate.

Jones, who also used the name Keisha Rochelle Dukes, is due in Las Vegas Justice Court on Monday.

Officials say she collected patient deposits at the Lied Ambulatory Care Facility on Pinto Lane, but pocketed money on the way to the bank.

A criminal complaint filed last week alleges the thefts started in January 2005 and ended with Jones' arrest. It puts the total amount taken at more than $100,000.

Hospital officials say no patient accounts were compromised. They say patient accounts were credited with the correct payment, but the actual deposits sent to the bank were lower.
