LAS VEGAS (AP) - Federal and state health authorities have ordered a Las Vegas surgery center to stop surgical procedures.
Officials are citing the results of an April inspection at Shadow Mountain Surgical Center that documented deficiencies in credentialing, screening and instrument sterilization.
The facility in northwest Las Vegas was fined $9,400 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for 32 deficiencies.
Authorities say they found staff wasn't properly trained in equipment sterilization for use during surgical procedures.
They also found a lack of documentation that physicians were credentialed, and a lack of verification that staff had required tuberculosis screening.
