LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police cleared homes around a
northeast convenience store before bomb squad technicians detonated
a device found in the back seat of a stolen car.
No injuries are reported, and only the car was damaged in the incident a little after 8 p.m. Thursday near Lamb Boulevard and Owens Avenue.
Police say the device resembling a pipe bomb was discovered after officers pulled over and arrested the driver of a car that had been reported stolen earlier.
The car was stopped near a convenience store gasoline station.
Authorities say five homes in the area were evacuated until the
device was neutralized.
