Porter Outpaces Challengers In Money Race

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Republican Rep. Jon Porter continued to outpace
his challengers in fund-raising in the first quarter of 2008.

Campaign finance records show Porter raised about $370,000 in
the first three months of the year, while his top Democratic challenger, Robert Daskas, raised about $233,000.

Combined with earlier fund-raising, Porter has raised $1.6 million this election cycle and has more than $1 million in cash on hand.

Porter is seeking a fourth term as representative for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District, which includes parts of Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City.

Former prosecutor Daskas has $450,000 on hand and has raised
more than $580,000 since launching his campaign in November.

Another Democrat vying for the nomination, Andrew Martin, took in $23,000 between January and March. He has more than $200,000 on
hand.
