The newest megaresort on the Las Vegas Strip may not open before New Year's Eve.
The Palazzo is focusing instead on a grand opening Jan. 17.
Executives with The Palazzo owner Las Vegas Sands Corp. had said
in August that the $1.9 billion property would open Dec. 20.
They also had planned what they called a "soft" opening this month to let guests begin arriving while staff ironed out last-minute kinks.
But a Sands letter to the media isn't mentioning any "soft opening" dates, and a company spokesman says the 50-story resort still needs final inspections and permits from Clark County.
Spokesman Ron Reese would not say whether the resort would be open before New Year's Eve.
