Arraignment has been postponed for a man facing multiple terms of life in prison on charges he raped a little girl on a videotape found in the Nevada desert.
Chester Arthur Stiles' defense lawyer said outside court that Stiles wasn't ready to enter a not guilty plea to sexually assaulting one girl before she turned 3 in September 2003, and molesting another girl, then 6, in December 2003.
Prosecutors didn't object to a delay, and a Clark County District Court hearing master scheduled arraignment for Jan. 9.
Stiles' lawyer won't say whether Stiles is considering pleading guilty.
She and a prosecutor say there haven't been firm talks about a plea deal.
But a lawyer for the mother of the little girl in the video says he hopes Stiles pleads guilty and spares everyone the ordeal of testifying.
