A Las Vegas man's trip to return a DVD rental went awry yesterday when a woman stole the vehicle carrying his infant son.
Police did not identify the man. They say he stopped in front of an Albertson's grocery store to return the movie to a storefront kiosk about 10:30 in the morning. The man left his son in the sport-utility vehicle with the engine running.
Police say the man was about 15 feet away from the SUV when a
woman jumped in behind the wheel and sped away.
The vehicle was found about 10 minutes later, two miles away with the child safe in the back seat.
Police arrested 22-year-old Jennifer Nichole Spencer. She was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on kidnapping, child endangerment and auto theft charges. She was being held without bail.
