Unions representing some 1,500 workers at the Golden Nugget casino-hotel in downtown Las Vegas have reached a tentative contract agreement with management.
The deal marks the second reached with a downtown casino operator.
The agreement will be put before members of the Culinary and Bartenders Unions for ratification on Saturday.
An additional 5,000 workers are still in negotiations or working under extended contracts at nine downtown properties, the Tropicana casino-hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, and two industrial laundries.
The unions had set a deadline for possible labor action by the end of Wednesday if no deal was reached but said it would not take action if both sides remained at the bargaining table.
The Golden Nugget is owned the national chain Landrys Restaurants Inc.
