A Carson City chiropractor has been sentenced to two years in federal prison and ordered to pay nearly $49,000 in restitution on her conviction for filing false tax returns, prosecutors said.
Lisa Getas was convicted by a judge in March of willfully filing false federal tax returns for 1999, 2000 and 2001.
She was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Brian Sandoval, who ordered her to surrender to prison by Nov. 29.
Her sentence includes a year of supervision upon her release.
Getas' income tax preparers pleaded guilty to tax offenses earlier this year in a related case, authorities said.
The U.S. attorney's office said Roger Steele was sentenced to six months of house arrest and five years probation.
Kimberly Steele received three years probation.
