CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - An agreement has been reached to end a years-long dispute between Nevada's resort casinos and the state over whether free meals provided to customers and employees are subject to taxes.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the Nevada Tax Commission on Tuesday signed off on the $233 million settlement.

Under the deal, casinos agree to drop a lawsuit seeking a refund on taxes already paid in exchange for being allowed to continue offering comped meals without taxation.

Cementing the agreement into state law will require passage of a bill by the Nevada Legislature with just days to go in the2013 session.

The Sun reports that Gov. Brian Sandoval's staff helped broker the deal.
