LAS VEGAS (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden says it's time the public turns against a raft of new laws that restrict the ability to vote.
Biden said the laws masquerade as anti-voter fraud measures, but are intended to making voting harder and lessen the number of people who cast ballots. He noted that they come as a Republican majority on the Supreme Court has gutted the Voting Rights Act, a law which enjoyed strong Republican support for decades. He called the GOP's shift "an aberration."
Biden was in Las Vegas to speak to the NAACP's annual convention and attend a rally for a Democratic congressional candidate. On Thursday he will address the National Urban League in Cincinnati.
