CARSON CITY, NV - Assemblyman Steven Brooks is no longer a member of the Assembly Democratic Caucus, according to a statement from Nevada Assembly Democratic Caucus Wednesday night.
The statement reads: At this time, the organization has determined it's in Mr. Brooks and the organization's best interest to part ways. The caucus encourages him to work on his health issues without the rigor of caucus business. The ADC remains as committed as ever to conducting the people's business this session.
Brooks has been under scrutiny after being arrested in January over threats he allegedly made about Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick. He was later admitted to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
Wednesday, he attended the Assembly floor session, the day after he rejected a leave of absence request from Assembly leadership. He told reporters later that a paid leave was simply out of the question because he's here to serve his constituents.
