Exposing Health Care Blunder Key For Republicans

PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia Republicans are breaking losing streaks that predate the Eisenhower administration, and one of their top targets is a Democratic congressman who has held his seat for nearly 40 years.

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall has represented the state's 3rd Congressional District since 1977.

Republicans hope a former Democrat in this once-strong Democratic state will unseat Rahall.

The GOP is trying to tap into resentment about the new health care law and general dislike of President Barack Obama.

Rahall probably will face state Sen. Evan Jenkins.

Jenkins left the Democratic Party last year to mount a run for Congress as a Republican.

Rahall has an opponent in the May 13 primary but is expected to win easily.
