NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Conservative Republicans are gathering in New Orleans for a three-day convention headlined by several potential presidential candidates.
The Republican Leadership Conference has grown into an annual opportunity for rising GOP stars to address conservative activists who play key roles in the nominating process.
The GOP is looking toward midterm elections that could give it control of Capitol Hill, but several delegates in New Orleans say their eyes are on reclaiming the White House in two years.
Delegates will hear from two tea party favorites - Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Utah Sen. Mike Lee - along with two former presidential candidates, former Sen. Rick Santorum and Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and Louisiana Gob. Bobby Jindal will address the opening session Thursday evening.
