LAS VEGAS (AP) - The wife of a Nevada Assembly member accused of threatening another state legislator reportedly told police she was worried about her husband's mental stability.

Democratic Assemblyman Steven Brooks was arrested Saturday night on a felony charge of intimidating a public officer by threat of physical violence.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a Nevada state Assembly member had a gun in his car when he was arrested during the weekend on allegations that he threatened at least one Assembly party leader.

North Las Vegas police Sgt. Tim Bedwell wouldn't disclose the caliber of the weapon that Democratic Assemblyman Steven Brooks had when he was arrested Saturday, or whether it was loaded at the time.

Bedwell also won't specify who was allegedly threatened.

The revelation came after Brooks' lawyer, Mitchell Posin said Brooks was hospitalized in Las Vegas for treatment of internal bleeding.

Posin says the bleeding may stem from a pre-existing condition.

Brooks never went to Carson City, where he had scheduled a Tuesday news conference about his arrest.

He's charged with intimidating a public officer by threat of physical violence. He's due in court next Monday.
