CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada lawmakers in both houses have overwhelmingly said it's time for the federal government to ensure current and future immigrants have the same opportunities afforded to America's founders.

The Assembly on Tuesday voted 37-3 to pass SJR15. The Senate approved the same measure earlier.

With their votes of approval, legislators are stressing the importance of immigration as an integral component of the United States and urging Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

The resolution says the reform must include a path to citizenship for current and future immigrants, appropriate border security and a funding plan.

Democratic Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick of North Las Vegas says the resolution is part of a coordinated national effort by state governments to enact federal action.
