RENO -- Even if the Nevada Supreme Court's opinion that termed out city councilmembers can not run for mayor in Reno stands, you might recognize some names on the ballot.
Former City Councilmember Dan Gustin served as councilmember for eight years, meaning he could still serve four more. "That's probably the best thing of all that I've got four years to do what I want to do to help the city find out what those things are and that's it that would be my term," Gustin said. Most state and local offices may be held for twelve years.
Current councilmembers Neoma Jardon, Jenny Brekhus, Oscar Delgado and Hillary Schieve are all eligible for run for mayor.
The Washoe County Registrar of Voters said voters will consider eighty-five offices this year. Three county commission seats could also see new faces -- two commissioners are termed out.
The filing period for local offices begins Monday. The primary is in June.
