RENO, NV - Washoe County District Attorney Dick Gammick won't run for re-election next year, stepping down after five four-year terms as the county's top prosecutor.
His office confirmed the information with KOLO 8 News Now after he made the announcement Tuesday on a Reno public affairs program.
His office confirmed he is endorsing Deputy District Attorney Chris Hicks, who announced Tuesday he is running for the job in the 2014 election. No one else has announced a run.
Gammick was a prosecutor under previous DAs Mills Lane and Dorothy Nash Holmes before running for the top job.
