CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevadans start heading to the polls Saturday as early voting begins for the June 12 primary and voters
whittle down which candidates will appear on the general election ballot for the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives and state Legislature.
Early voting runs through June 8 and Secretary of State Ross Miller is projecting a 15 percent to 20 percent turnout for the primary.
In Nevada's U.S. Senate race, GOP Sen. Dean Heller is expected to easily defeat four Republican challengers to advance to November. Likewise, Rep. Shelley Berkley, a seven-term congresswoman from Las Vegas, is expected to easily win over five other Democrats to set up a high-stakes face-off against Heller in the fall.
In Nevada's four U.S. House races, two Democrats and one Republican are unopposed.
