BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) - Doctors say Argentine President Cristina Fernandez needs one more week of rest before she can go back to work after head surgery.
Presidential spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro announced the new return date of Nov. 18 on Monday, saying it was ordered by her surgeons at Favaloro hospital. He says all future updates will come from the presidential medical unit.
He says doctors found the 60-year-old leader's heart to be in good shape but want to monitor a blockage on her left side that prompted her surgery on Oct. 8 to remove a clot pressuring her brain.
A six-week absence from public life for Fernandez is extremely unusual for Argentines who have constantly seen her on television for the last decade. She hasn't even sent a Twitter message in all this time.
