DENVER (AP) - Associated Press journalists told a news industry meeting that the AP will keep fighting for independent news coverage of a secretive White House.
AP White House reporter Julie Pace and photographer Charles Dharapak described the challenges facing journalists covering President Barack Obama at a Newspaper Association of America convention in Denver Tuesday.
They told industry executives that the White House bars reporters' access to many events, then releases its own photos via social media - something Dharapak calls "visual press releases."
He says news organizations must push back when offered handouts.
